The 2020 Census takes place from mid-March through April 1, and RCMA is working hard to assure the most complete count ever in the areas where we have a presence.
We are educating RCMA families about why it is important to get counted and what to expect during the counting process with a series of newsletters being sent home with all children.
For some, completing the Census can be a technical challenge too. Not everyone has access to an internet-connected computer at home and some of the questions can seem a bit unclear. With that in mind, RCMA is preparing a space at all of its locations across Florida where parents can use a computer or phone to complete the process when they drop off or pick up their child.
In Immokalee, Florida, where RCMA is based, we will be staffing a space in our headquarters every Saturday from 10am until 4pm from March 14 through May 30 with a staff member who is trained to answer questions about the Census process and can provide technical assistance to anyone, not just RCMA-connected families but anyone, who wishes to get counted.
We will be spreading the word all over Southwest Florida through public service announcements on the radio and by posting flyers in businesses around Immokalee. If you want to be a part of our effort, please contact Community Relations Manager, Clay Hollenkamp at Clay.Hollenkamp@RCMA.org.
